NASAのハイブリッドアンテナは、深宇宙を旅するNASAのプシュケ(Psyche)宇宙船からのラジオ周波数と近赤外レーザー信号を受信し、光通信にも対応可能なことを実証した。この実験により、光通信がデータの詰め込みを増やし、ディープ・スペース・ネットワーク(DSN)の需要が高まる中で新たな宇宙探査能力を提供することが示された。
