Photographs taken out the window of the Twin Otter aircraft during the October 2024 AirSHARP deployment showcase the variation in ocean color, which indicates different molecular composition of the water column beneath. NASAエイムズ研究所は、PACE衛星の海洋色観測装置（OCI）の性能検証をモントレーベイで実施。OCIは紫外線から近赤外線まで観測可能な分光放射計で、海洋のプランクトンや溶存物質、大気中エアロゾルの分析に利用される。検証には、航空機搭載のAirSHARPと、船舶搭載のロボット式カロメーターSeaSTARを使用し、空と海から同時に観測。これにより、衛星データの精度を実地観測と比較し、環境モニタリングの信頼性向上が期待される。
